Surface finishes available include:

ROUGH SAWN: This is the texture left on the surface of the timber after being cut with a band saw, ours is slightly less rough than what you normally see on standard rough cedar lumber.

SURFACED (S4S): A smooth surface on all sides, this finish creates a somewhat more contemporary feel in the ttimbers, and also makes for easier dusting and cleaning once the timbers or trusses are installed.

HEWN: When machines for cutting logs were not available, hand hewn timbers were the result of workers using an "adz" to turn a round log into a square sided timber.  The resulting texture is very similar to a "hand scraped" look, with deeper more prominent markings.

SAND BLASTED: This process raises the hard annual rings in the wood by blasting away the softer areas in the surface of the timbers, giving them a natural weathered look.

AGED: A process we developed that will make your new timbers look as if they are antique salvaged timbers by employing a series of distressing processes.  The fact that these are new and graded timbers allows for engineered applications that would not be possible with true salvaged timbers.
